Not sure what to ask? Start here. These Q&A’s offer a glimpse into the essence of Feeding Wisdom Retreats — the space we create, the presence we bring, and the conversations we hold. These are real, honest reflections about the kind of energy, intention, and connection you’ll find here.
The more you tune into how things, places, and people make you feel, the better you get at gauging what’s right for you and when. I’ve never been much of a drinker, and if I do have a drink, one is more than enough. That said, everything on this earth is a prop. I don’t judge anyone for drinking, using drugs, going to church, or staying in relationships that don’t serve them — it’s all part of a journey, helping them move toward their true path. Like the rubber band effect — the deeper something pulls you down, the higher you’re often propelled.
There have been times — especially in the last four years — when the thought of alcohol made my body feel physically sick. I believe our cells hold intelligence, and I was going through something emotionally, spiritually, mentally — a lot was metabolizing, and my body was simply asking: save your energy for this. Other times, sharing a cocktail with a friend while the sun sets feels beautiful. It’s just like coffee — too much and it doesn’t feel good anymore. It’s about your ability to feel what serves you in any given moment. Tuning in to that is a way to tap into your higher self — or whatever word fits best for you.
Also, I don’t want to sound self-righteous, because honestly, I love a tequila with fresh lime and orange juice. But even then, it felt sacred to me. Just like how I honor my morning coffee — the time of day, the ingredients, the setting, who I’m with — it all matters. I want whatever I’m ingesting to add to an already existing feeling of love, joy, and appreciation for my life. I’m never reaching for alcohol to feel better. I already feel good — and the impulse to make a cocktail only comes because I’m already feeling good.
The more questions you ask, the more answers you’ll get. What you just asked is already an intention — a message to your higher self that knows exactly what you need. So now, just observe. Watch what comes into your life. You may overhear a conversation, have a dream, read something that sparks insight. The answer will come in the way that resonates best with you.
If you want to step back from something, support yourself in doing that gently. I really understand the feeling — I’ve been having too much caffeine lately (as in... the last ten years, ha). And I’ve noticed that society tends to push us to extremes — go cold turkey or just keep doing it and surround ourselves with people or ideas that justify it. But recently I’ve felt ready to ask: Why now? Why is this finally becoming a question for me after all these years? And I think that’s a beautiful moment.
So, to better hear the answer, I just started reducing how much I have. I love my Nespresso pods, so now I make a single small shot to sit with at sunrise before meditation. Then later, around 9:30 or 10, I’ll make a half-caff after I’ve stretched, walked, had breakfast, and sat down to work. It feels nourishing — not restrictive.
What I’m really trying to say, louder than anything else, is this is your life — make it beautiful, make it a non-judgmental experiment and learn from it and love yourself more for it
